Acorn Folk

Acorn Folk is a woodland playgroup based at Bluebell Wood, Arlington, Sussex,  for children aged 2-4, together with their grown-ups.
We meet on fortnightly (ish) Tuesdays all year round (except April and part of May) at the beautiful private woods and fields of the Arlington Bluebell Walk at Bates Green Farm, Arlington, near Polegate.  In April and May we meet at Abbots Wood, Arlington or Wild Weald, Hellingly.
All the sessions are 10.30am - 12noon.

Explore the magical woodland and watch the changing seasons.  There will be discovering, storytelling, creating, something to take home and skills to learn and develop.

You can come to any session as a one-off for £7.50, or you can book any six sessions (you don't need to specify which, if you're not sure) for £39, saving £6.
From February 2026, the sessions will go up slightly to £8.50 for one and £43 for six (saving £8).

You'll need to book and pay in advance - contact Sarah on 07887 556336 or [email protected]

Acorn Folk follows a similar format each time:  We welcome the children and their grown-ups in the yard, remind them of what they need to be careful of in the woods, introduce the theme for the day and set off into the fields and woods.
Often there is a story element and we collect natural materials on our way into the woods, or search for hidden toys, or clues, along the route.
We sometimes look for signs of animals, or do a small game or activity along the way. It's nice to repeat things we've done before, so  the children become familiar with the fields and woods, see how things change, watch things appear or disappear and so on.
We usually then do the main activity of the session, followed by a snack in the woods, where I provide drinks for grown ups and children.  There is a shelter if needed and a table.  Sometimes there is a story here too, and this is usually followed by something to make to take home.
It's all done at a 2 year old's pace, and there's no requirement to stay right with the group all the time if something else takes your notice.  What's great about the wood is that we have it all to ourselves, there are no passers by or dog walkers - it's truly magical!

WHEN IS IT?
For all, it's 10.30am - 12.00noon  at Arlington Bluebell Walk, Bates Green Farm, Arlington.   Please arrive in time for a prompt start.

PAYMENT
I ask for payment by 8pm of the Sunday of the week you are planning to come.  Sometimes I think I am expecting a full session, but then not everyone comes, and I have turned away other people.

If you can't make it through illness, small children being what they are, please let me know by 6pm the night before and I will forward the payment to another session. Paid bookings that are cancelled after that or on the day cannot be carried forward, I'm sorry.

You can pay for one off sessions at £7.50, or book six (don't have to be consecutive) for £6.50 each, so £39.

From February 2026, the sessions will go up slightly to £8.50 for one and £42 for six (saving £9).
